Here is a movie which had the evergreen Dev Anand provind why he was Dev Anand. When Raj Kapoor as an actor did not have many hits and was directing films and Dilip Kumar's film started flopping Dev Anand still was churning out hits.
Vijay Anand -who directed Dev Anand in some of his best movies- and who had directed the superhit thriller Teesri Manzil - here directs his older brother once again!
This is the movie that started the hit pairing of Dev Anand and Hema Malini. Kalyanji Anandji scored a sublime soundtrack for this movie including "Babul Pyare", "Vaada Toh Nibhaaya" , the superb cabaret "Husne Ke Lakhon Rang" and the by now immortal "Pal Bhar Ke Liye Koi Humme Pyaar Kijiye Jhoota Hi Sahi". Kishore Kumar was at his best singing for Dev Anand.
The supporting cast is pitch perfect: Pran as the elder brother (he would be Dev's elder brother once again in the Dev Anand directed hit DES PARDES), Prem Nath started his villainous roles with this movie, I.S. Johar almost steals the show as the triplets Pehleram, Doojeram aand Teejeram and many many other actors make their presence felt. A special mention must go out to Padma Khanna who could turn ice into fire with her looks and especially in the song "Husne Ke Lakh Rang".
This masala entertainer has it all!! It is just too bad that the so called "evolved" film industry don't make movies like this anymore. And the soundtrack HAS NO RECREATIONS but almost all songs became hits. This is how a good succesfull movie is made!
A few prints online have a quality that is not that fine to watch -at least not for a movie like this. Hope everyone enjoys this upload which has a good picture quality
